If you would like KUSHKA to visit your school, please contact Eli Kowalski at least two weeks in advance (for scheduling purposes). KUSHKA and Eli will visit elementary schools, book fairs and festivals.

When KUSHKA attends her events, I have a few different programs that correspond to the age of the children in the audience.

For the younger children, roughly grades pre-K through 3rd grade, I engage the students in an interactive story time. This includes reading KUSHKA’s book, “KUSHKA, the Dog Named Cat.” We discuss KUSHKA, being a young author, writing questions. KUSHKA also puts on a fashion demonstration with her hats. Overall, it’s a lot of fun for all involved. Afterward, the children can ask me any question about KUSHKA or about being an author. At the conclusion of the program, KUSHKA performs a funny trick that people cannot stop talking about. This program can be as short as 20 minutes or as long as 40 minutes depending upon your schedule.

For children grades 4 through 6, I will need a computer/laptop and a projector. I bring a flash drive that has a Power Point presentation. In this presentation, I discuss with the children the process of writing, editing, where to get ideas, etc., and I talk to them about how I got started. I introduce KUSHKA, the dog and star of her book series. I use the presentation to show the students how a book is put together, starting from rough sketches and to the final product. KUSHKA will perform her funny trick at the conclusion. This program can run anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes.

I use a power point presentation to show them how a book is put together starting from rough sketches from the illustrator and then how color is added which changes the entire out look of the page. If you are holding a book fair that KUSHKA and I are not participating in, then you can download these forms and customize them to pre-sell our books. I can personalize each book and KUSHKA will sign her books with a “paw-a-graph.”
